Authenticity and transfer

Each piece of crystalline osmium is identified, and can later be transferred. The two codes below are issued with the piece. They are managed on the Osmium Institute’s official portal.

Authenticity and certification

The OIC, Osmium Identification Code, identifies your osmium. It refers to the photographic record of its crystalline surface, unique to each piece, and to the details stored in the international database: dimensions and weight.

To consult the certification, enter the OIC on the official portal. Several codes can be entered, separated by a comma. This lookup does not make the owner’s contact details public.

Transfer your piece

The OCC, Owner Change Code, belongs to the registered owner. It is six characters, letters and numbers. It is used to record a change of owner.

On the official portal

  1. Enter the piece’s OIC.
  2. Enter the OCC for that piece.
  3. Enter the new owner’s details and check them, especially the email address.
  4. Once the transfer is validated, the previous OCC is no longer valid. The new owner receives a new OCC.

Make this transfer only after the transaction is complete: payment has been received and the piece has been handed over.

For a succession, a change of name, or any other particular situation, contact the Osmium Institute at +49 (89) 744 88 88 88. Only the local institute can authorize that change, and it requires proof.

If the OCC is lost, the portal can issue a new one: Lost code (opens in a new tab).
